The Center
It is a research center of national interest. Funded by the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID), it was established to address the country’s main challenges in transportation and logistics, and their impact on competitiveness.
Mission
To drive the country’s development by generating interdisciplinary knowledge in transportation, logistics, and competitiveness. We bring together research, innovation, and collaboration to improve public and private decision-making, promoting systems that are more efficient, sustainable, and people-centered.
Vision
To establish ourselves as a leader in the generation of knowledge and innovative solutions in transportation and logistics, contributing to the competitiveness and sustainable development of Chile and the region.
CATLEC brings together a robust academic consortium co-led by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Universidad Andrés Bello, alongside partner institutions Universidad de los Andes and Universidad de Concepción. To ensure real-world translation and policy relevance, the Center maintains strategic alignments with pivotal national stakeholders, as the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (MTT), the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), and the Conecta Logística Foundation.

Developing evidence-based recommendations for investment in public infrastructure, the governance of logistics clusters, and decarbonization strategies. The research findings aim to guide policies at the national and regional levels, addressing challenges such as urban congestion, freight transport efficiency, and adaptation to climate change.
Capacity Building and Human Capital Development
Promoting public-private partnerships, professional training, and gender equity in the logistics and transportation sectors. The goal is to strengthen the industry by developing a diverse, skilled, and resilient workforce, addressing existing gaps, and offering training programs.
Innovation and Technology Transfer
Development of decision-support tools, optimization models, and open-access databases to improve planning and operational efficiency. These innovations aim to benefit both the public and private sectors by facilitating the adoption of sustainable, data-driven practices.
Knowledge Dissemination and Outreach
Development of initiatives and implementation of various scientific communication activities aimed at fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning with different stakeholders in society. Focus on working with local, regional, and national communities and stakeholders.
